Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.
The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.
Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.
The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.
However, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the final seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.
From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.
The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
