Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an better service.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the final five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.

He defended 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
